Upgrading from 1.6.1 to latest

I just moved a production site a my test server in order to check the necessary steps to upgrade the CMS to te latest version. The move went smooth, site is running on my test server.

Then I copied all the files from the latest release, placed back the encryption key and the theme and started the installer. When the installer reaches the database upgrade part I get a blank page. Some suggested changing InnoDB to MyISAM. So I tried that as well: same result.

Any clues to why this is happening? And the site says 1.0.8.1 is the latest release. Is that the latest stable release?

Wondering if nobody of the dev team has an idea about this. Is this CMS still being developed?

Re: Upgrading from 1.6.1 to latest

A lot of people have posted a few issues with 1.0.8.1, if you don't require anything specific in the later versions I would just stick with the version you have and safe yourself a lot of headache.  The CMS is still been developed but it a small team, so hard to know when a next update will be or when issues will be fixed.
