Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

hi,

happy, not happy ? you're kidding ? smile
the content elements sound really great This with the ability to use extend fields only for dedicated article or pages (is this planned for this release ?) could make complex projects seem easy !

just for fun, maybe for this realease you could upgrade the download links on the whole website, the features page link is still aiming at the 0.9.5 rev7 release smile

Thanks for that great job...

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

Can't wait to try the content elements!

Is there something we have to pay attention while we upgrade?

Keep up the good work!

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

@themhouse:
You can already download the 0.9.7 beta version on GitHub,
I don't think we can expect too much improvements from the GitHub beta version for the "official" 0.9.7 release, except some bug fixes.

But we will definitely need some documentation on new features, I hope it will be provided with the release announcement.

Regards,

Pascal

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

@Hypee, @virtualgadjo,

We're late... we shame... alot... and to be forgiven, the only choice for us was to upgrade to Mootools 1.3.1... big_smile

More seriously, for designer, this upgrade will "just" provide more browser compatibility because mootools 1.3.1 provides more consistency regarding browser detection (IE9 wasn't detectable with mootools 1.2)

The reason because we waited so long is easy : Ionize's backend is like a car, most of the component aren't developed by the team. We integrate them for your biggest pleasure (we hope) but our business is to provide a CMS, not to develop a datepicker, even we're happy to use one of the best, like Mercedes is happy to use the Bosch's EPS or ABS !
The problem was all these component weren't migrated to mootools 1.3, so we waited a little. Now, it's time to not wait anymore : Mootools 1.3 becomes used, we already migrate our prehistorical version of TinyMCE to the really last one... Let's go !

We finished the main big things and we still have a little work on the filemanager. Should be OK in few days...

Stay tuned !

@chcrist : yes you can download from GitHub.
The best is that you started with that and plan an update later.

Hm, been there, but I can only see ionize-0.9.6-rev1.zip for download and some early stages of CI2 and Mootols, also marked as 0.9.6

Yes Ukyo, i saw that, but it seems that branch needs a lot of work before final stage.

OK, so 0.9.6. is the way to go, isnt it?

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

I didn't actually see any upgrade script in the Github repository for the DB to go from 0.9.6 to 0.9.7 so I'd assume, at least for now, that 0.9.7 is for clean installs only. Of course it would be easy to write a little migration script if you wanted to by comparing the schema..

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

I installed it clean. 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 for comparison. It could be nice to be able to update 0.9.7 beta to newer version as it evolves automatically (using script of some sort).

But , in both version, I cannot see option to install sample website?

I've not been active here for some time, so tell me, is that option excluded in these version?

Sample website was good reference point for starters to get hold of CMS, since tutorials and "step by step" howtos are missing (still).

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

aamm for the migration in the readme.md file says:

readme.md wrote:

IMPORTANT : Before any update, make a backup of your database. We will not be responsible for any loose of data.

From Ionize 0.9.6

- Copy your database, you will start working with this copy,
- Go in your 0.9.6 config/config.php file and copy your encryption key in the new config/config.php file,
- Launch the installer : http://your_domain/install
- The installer will migrate the database and the user accounts

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

Hi guys,

I am following close the development of this cms during a long time ago but i've never used it. Last night i was playing with it (hahaha) and its amazing, but in the version 0.9.7 i've detected only 1 error: media uploading is not working anymore. Tomorrow I will try to fix this, but I think mootols is not for me hahaha.

Thank you very much for this cms. I love it, but specially its parser big_smile

How is the development of 0.9.7 going? Is there a roadmap to see what is left to be completed?

Re: Ionize 0.9.7 on the rails...

It is going well.
We take a huge delay because of the mootools filemeanger integration.
Now, we need to finish the demo theme.
