Add category link to menu

Hi,

in the page options I can specify an external link and this will be used in the menu, replacing the page internal link. I think that should be a good idea also add a "category link", to display all articles of one category. It's true that I can specify an absolute url to a page with a category filter (http://www.mysite.com/mypage/category/mycategory) but this work only if my website has a single language. It should be a double field, with destination page and category. What do you think?

Re: Add category link to menu

Thank you adamos. Yes, having multilingual url for categories should be a good starting point, but we need also that in the pages the external link field is multilingual, now it's possible to specify only an external url for page and it works for each language...

Re: Add category link to menu

@salgua : Do you mean translating the category URI part ?

For example : the "House" category :
In french : http://website.tld/mapage/categorie/maison
In English : http://website.tld/mypage/category/house

Re: Add category link to menu

@Michel-Ange: that's not really necessary. I can have http://website.tld/en/mypage/category/house and http://website.tld/fr/mapage/category/house, two different url for two different language. What that I need is that the external url that I can specify in a page (overloading the page content) is a multilingual field. Now I can specify only an external or internal url for all languages.

Re: Add category link to menu

This is the page url in en: http://mysite.com/en/mypage
page url filtered by category in en : http://mysite.com/en/mypage/category/category_name
page url filtered by category in it : http://mysite.com/it/miapagina/category/category_name

the problem is: I need to put in the main navigation tree the page with the category filter active, and it must work in each language. Actually that's impossible in ionize because the only way to have a "page filtered by category" in the menu is to add the absolute url in the option->link field, but this field isn't a multilingual field...

Taking Joomla as example, when I create a menu item, I can choose to display articles of a specified category

Re: Add category link to menu

I think a good ideia should be the possibility of assign a category to a page. Thereby, when a page is open, ionize verifies if there is some category assigned. If there is, show the articles from this category, instead showing articles of the page.
